I know what you're thinking. "Rachel, why are you blogging about self love when you're suppose to be blogging about college?!" Well my answer to you is that self love is sooooo underrated and needs to be expressed daily. I found myself needing more of my own love lately and am feeling inspired. Before you continue with the blog, check out this link to read more about having a healthy lifestyle while in college.
So today we are gonna take about beauty self care.
1. At Home Facials
After a long day, whether it was full of school or full of work, I like to give myself relaxing facials. It sounds like a lot of work but I have found some of the easiest and inexpensive at home facials. Here is my favorite at home remedy! Try it out! and leave a comment on what you thought.
2. Hair Masks
So we have our face masks done. What about our hair masks? Our hair needs some love too! I have never done a hair mask before but after this post and after researching I am definitely gonna try out some of these remedies. The banana honey yogurt hair is on my to do list this weekend.
3. Drink lots of water
You see and hear this everywhere. "Drink lots of water". Well, I am here to say it again. Water does wonders to your body. Not only does it hydrate you but it helps your skin and hair thrive!! Think of this as if you're watering a plant, you should be watering your plant everyday. Just like you should be drinking plenty of water everyday.
"What if I don't like the taste of just plain water?"
If you don't like the taste of plain water then maybe some of these water infused drinks will help.
I hope you found these three self car tips helpful Let me know in the comments which tip you tried out!
Until next time, Stay Spicy.

Self love
So we've talked about the first two years of college, freshmen and sophomore year. I want to take the next couple of blog post and use them for some self love and de-stress trends. College is very very stressful. We all know this. Adulting is not much easier, infact adulting is terrible! So many bills and so many responsibilities. This post is gonna be all about how to take a step back from reality for just one night.
1. Working out
My favorite thing to do when I am in need of some self love is working out. I find myself in the gym more when I am having a rough day, or when I just need to take a break from something for awhile. The gym is the most healthiest way to de-stress. The awesome part is that most Universities have a school gym so you should not have an excuse as to why you aren't going!

2. Go to Bed Early
Some College students can say they never went to bed before midnight during all four years on school. That is very true! Whether it's staying up cramming for an exam in the morning, or late night outs with friends. It almost always seems to be nearly impossible to go to bed by midnight, let alone be in bed before midnight. If this seems impossible to you then I suggest scheduling it. Yes, schedule your bed time. If you're anything like me you'll need to schedule your bedtime, otherwise you'll never sleep before midnight.
3. Take yourself out to dinner
Yes, you read that write and no this isn’t lame! Take yourself out to dinner and it’ll change your life. You might feel weird and awkward but it’s the best “me” time you can have. If you don’t want to go and sit at a table in a restaurant just yet, then maybe order some take out or a pizza and have a party with your bed and Netflix. Sometime you have to stay in on a Friday night and give your self attention.
These are my favorite top 3 self love activities. Like I said, I’m all about self love and de-stressing so stay tuned for next week post where I will continue with the best activities to de stress.

Sophomore Year...Part 2
And we are back with the second part of sophomore year! It has been a crazy week for me, and it is only gonna get crazier for the next month. You'll soon figure out how busy you can actually get when you hit your senior year. I can promise you that one. Being in my senior year right now, I have realized that the days I thought I was "so busy" are nothing compared to now. But that talk is for later. Lets finish up sophomore year, shall we?
The last post I ended with "finding your friend group" and I still hold true to that. Like I posted last week, I found some of my best friends during my sophomore year. This post I wanna talk about roommates. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
1. Not all roommates get along
Yes, this WILL happen to you. Let me paint this picture for you. Okay so you and your best friend come to college together and life is just great. You have your best friend by your side. You guys are freshmen in college living on your on. Blah Blah Blah.
-Fast Forward-
You guys move in together and you both are so excited. The first couple of weeks (or months) are probably the best thing ever! But then you walk down stairs and see the mess created in the kitchen. There's dishes everywhere. Trash pouring out of the trash can. You see panda express to go containers on the counter from last Wednesday. You stop and think to yourself. WTF.
What do you do? Scream at your best friend/roommate? Do you just clean up the mess you didn't make?
I've heard a lot of friends who lived with their best friends and they ended up hating each other.
So my advice to you is to be excited about roommates, but be very careful with you who live with. Sometimes your best friends do not make the best roommates.
2. The Good
Now, I do not want you think that all roommates are bad. I have had my share of bad roommates and I have had my share of good roommates. So what makes a roommate and "good" roommate??
- They clean up after themselves!
- They respect your space and privacy. There is nothing like a roommate who thinks your room is her room.
-They don't eat your food! This is so important..like come on!
If your roommate has at least these 3 qualities then you got yourself a good one.

Sophomore Year...No turning back now
So it's your sophomore year now.... how was your freshmen year?? Was it as bad as you thought it was going to be? Do you know regret taking those 8am classes that you thought you could do??
Well I wish I could tell you that it gets easier from here but.......it only gets harder. I'm sorry but someone has to tell you and it is gonna be me! Your freshmen year is all about figuring college out and adjusting to the new environment. Now that it is your second year, you should be pretty much adjusted by now...well hopefully. And there is NO TURNING BACK NOW!
My Sophomore Year
Here are somethings that I learned during my sophomore year.
I started to realize that high school friends might not stick around with you while you go through college. I had some friends go to different colleges, some friends go on missions, and some friends stay home. You will lose connections with maybe some of your best friends... It's sad but its all a part of growing I guess.
1. If you don't have a job. GET ONE!
I didn't have a job my freshmen year and it was fine i guess...but looking back on it I wish I did. I got job the summer after freshmen year. Guess what?! I still work at the same place today. Going to school in very small city that was populated by mainly college students, it was difficult to find a job quickly. I suggest looking sooner than later. Apply everywhere, especially if you're going to school in a college town I like do. Get a job. Ramen gets gross after awhile.
2. Have an idea of what you are studying.
This varies with a lot of people. Some people know exactly what they want to study and they know exactly what they are gonna do with their lives. Those people must be immortal gods because NO ON KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING. You should have a little bit of an idea of what you want to study. And if you still don't know, maybe take classes that are just interesting to you. You never know....you might find your passion!
3. Hopefully you found your group
What I mean by this is....I hope you have found your friend group in college. Do, find a close friend group. Some of the friends I made my sophomore year of college are still some of my best friends today! Don't worry if you are reading this and you feel like you still haven't found "your people"....they will come around soon!
That is all for today! Come back next week on Part 2 of my sophomore year!
