Im Back...

Image result for screaming faceSo hi, its me again. I know what some of you are thinking, "ugh! she said she was done blogging?!" "I'm tired of reading her blogs" "Who does she think she is?!" Well SURPRISE! This is officially the last blog for my class. For my last blog, I want to try my best to compare it to a thriller movie!

My experience in college has been a thriller. Yes, a thriller. You know when you're watching a super suspenseful movie in the theaters,  and you’re excited but scared at the same time? Then you watch the opening scene and wish you would’ve bought the ticket to Trolls with your little sister, but it’s too  late. At this point you are full send and can’t back out now.

This explains freshmen year.. am I right? Or am I right?

The movie continues and the girl in the thriller trips and the light goes out. Your heart is racing and you cover your eyes enough to not see but see... and you know something is gonna happen but you don’t know when. Then the monster creature thing in the movie jumps out and you scream and the adrenaline is pumping and you wanna leave but are too committed at this point. Again. This is college. You are having a good time in college and then something happens and you are thrown off for a second and wanna leave but you know what? You already bought your damn ticket and spent $6 on popcorn.

Ya relatable?

At some points you are crying, telling your friends that this was a bad idea, your mom keeps texting your phone, and you just wanna know if the girl from the movie is gonna live. When the movie ends you turn to your friends and say that it wasn’t as bad as you thought and that you’d see it again...

If you can agree that college can be described as a thriller, let me know in the comments or shoot me a text! I really enjoyed writing blogs this semester and have decided to continue and post more about lifestyle and some of the crazy random things that come to my mind. So stay tuned.

Love, Rachel

DeadWeek Times 2!?

Okay, let me just tell you guys how this week and next week are going to be literal hell! College students love to call this "Dead Week". We call it Dead Week because it is the end of the semester and very professor thinks it is in the students best interest to make all final projects/presentations due within  one week span. I don't know why they think is a good idea...
Now you may wonder why the title of this blog is, " Dead Week Times 2!?" that is because my final projects/presentations/exams all are within two weeks. Basically this week is like a "pre dead week" and next week will be the official "Dead Week"....

1. Me Time
I know I have mentioned this before in many of my blogs but seriously, Me Time. During this dead week you will be on autopilot. You might have your dinner at midnight and you wont even realize. Pay attention to these signs. If you are going to bed at 3am because you had to finish your paper then you might need to have some Me Time for awhile. Check out these tips on how to unwind and have time to yourself.

2. Get sleep
This tip is very obvious, GET SOME SLEEP. Dead week will drain you mentally, physically, and emotionally so sleep is key. Take a hour out of your studying day and take a nap. Resting your brain is very important if you are just filling it with pointless information...I mean very important useful information.

3. Play Fortnite
This one goes out to everyone who is obsessed with Fortnite. If you are not familiar with this game then you have been living under a rock.. check this link out and get updated right now! Anyways I could not think of a third tip so I asked my friend Andrew Clemens and his immediate answer was "Fortnite" So Andrew, here ya go. Take a break from writing that 10 page research paper that you and I both know you are BS-ing anyways, and play Fortnite.

So the saddest part about this blog is that this is the last time you will be hearing from me. Remember this was for a class? Ya, well the class is almost over which means no more blogs. If you think I should still write weekly blogs, let me know!! Comment on my posts and tell me what you want to read about! Until next time (which may be never)

Stay Spicy, and thank you for sticking through till the very end.

Love, Rachel

High school senior year VS. College senior year

Your senior year of college vs your senior year of high school has similarities and differences. In today's blog we will discuss the similarities and difference in both, as well as get you ready for the duties of your senior year of college.

Some similarities between your two senior years is you are are probably feeling sentimental about leaving your school. It is normal to feel this way, I was sad my senior year of high school because I knew that all of my friends were going separate ways and it was not gonna be the same. That sentimental feeling is slowly creeping back in because it is my senior year of college.

High School Senior Year:
My high school senior year was AMAZING! My most memorable high school days were during my senior year. I was very involved with school activities my senior year and I think that is why leaving my senior was so hard.
During your senior year you at least have your post graduation plans set or maybe are in the process. I had my top three colleges picked out my junior year of high school. Later that year I finalized my choice. Your senior year is were you have your post graduation plans set and it is the year to make the most memories.
College Senior Year:
Your college senior year will be very similar to your high school year. What I mean by this is that you should have your post graduation plans set or at least somewhat planned out. This part is a lot more stressful now than it was in high school because these decisions are literally setting the path for the rest of your life. Some of you may be setting up internships or applying to grad school. Most of us are maybe setting up our careers.

Whether it’s your senior year of high school or senior year of college the point is you need to stay focused. Focus on getting your path set and focus on making the most of the year!!

Stay spicy..as always

Friday night adventures on a college budget

I have had the hardest time thinking about what to write this week and then it hit me! Why don’t I talk about how to have fun on a college budget. This idea sparked when I was hanging out with two of my sorority sisters. We were doing a bunch of fun things and I kept telling them, “guys, I don’t know what to write about this week!”. They responded with, “write about our day!” And welp, Mccall and Tati... this one is for you!

Here are the top three things to do in a college town while on a college budget!

1. Go see a play
Being in a small town you have to get creative with what you do. Luckily, one of my sorority sisters is in a play this weekend. The play was only $5!! That’s $5 to get out of your house and $5 to support a sister/friend! So if you know there’s a play going on in your town, GO CHECK IT OUT! It’s cheap and it’s something to do!

2. The Reservoir
So going to school in southern utah, there are a lot of easy ways to get outdoors! For example, I live 30 minutes away from one of the prettiest hikes! But what I want to talk about is what all of us call “the res”. The Res is just a man made lake that’s literally in the town. People like to fish, paddle board, and tan during the summer here! It’s a 3 minute drive from my apartment which makes it super easy! Find a cool part in your town and go!!

3.  Go to college events
This blog is about college so did you really think I wasn’t gonna mention this? Yes, go to college events. Some may cost money but most of them are free! Yes! FREE! Take advantage of the free events.

let me know in the comments what YOU do with your friends while on a college budget.

You're almost there!!

Welcome back readers! I hope the last blog helped you guys get through the "post spring break blues".
This week we are gonna talk about how you are ALMOST THERE!! It is almost the end of the semester but we still have to some how stay motivated and finish the school year off right! I know what you are all thinking because I am thinking the same thing!
"I am running out of gas and drive to finish all of these assignments".
Or "My body is definitely not summer ready" or the most common thought,
"I have no money to spend on fun summer adventures"

Stop with these thoughts!! If you thought "post spring break blues" were terrible.... Here are the worst things about "pre summer excitement"  Let me tell you why...

1. You lose all sorts of motivation to finish school with A++
So we have passed through the spring break blues and getting back in gear was the worst. You basically have to re teach yourself how to read after spring break. Lets say that you have retaught yourself how to school again and now you get wind that summer is coming fast. What do you do??? Some things that I just keep telling myself is that if I focus and study hard now, then I can relax and do what I want to do over the summer. Sometimes it is hard to study for that accounting exam when you just want to go on adventures with friends. But hey! you can go on infinite adventures with your friend over the summer...but you need to pass this accounting exam.Keep telling yourself to stay focus so you can reward yourself with summer fun. Trust me, you do NOT want to be crying the whole summer because you failed a class...Study now, play later.  Here is a link to help you stay motivated to finish the year strong.

2. Not having enough money to enjoy summer festivities
If you're like me, you probably have a million plans and adventures planned for this summer. My question to you is, do you have the money for it? If the answer is no, which I have a feeling I am right.... Then take some extra steps in saving some dollars so you can actually enjoy your summer! I know a lot of people who make sooooo much money over the summer. Whether it is summer sales, a paid internship, or working overtime, they have been able to make money while still having a great summer. That is our goal guys!!! Lets make money and make memories.

funniest memes quotes ever (42)3. Being fat and pale.
This is the #1 thing everybody does not want to be when summer hits. My suggestion to you is Gym and Tan, NOW! It is easier said than done, I know. There is plenty of time to prepare and feel good for when summer arrives. Here are some of my favorite cardio workouts for you to try. Lets get that body right.
Now the thing with tanning....if you want a quick fix then I suggest using a self tanner. If you want a more natural look then I suggest laying out multiple times a week and maybe a tanning bed.

My final thought to you is to stay strong and keep pushing through the semester. You are almost there!!

Until next time, Stay Spicy.

Post spring break.

Welcome back! Thanks for continuing to open my blogs and read my terribly put together content. If you are reading this, I hope you find joy and humor in my post. If you do, leave a comment and share with your friends.

Today I am talking about whats happens after spring break, ya know reality? Everyone tends to have "Post Spring Break Depression". You will get an insight of some tricks and tips to get over that hump. Sit back and enjoy!

#1 MONEY
This year I was unfortunately unable to have a wild fun spring break with my friends because I had to work the whole time. So unlike my friends, I made money over spring break instead of losing money. So if you are like my friends and spent all of your money over spring break don't worry! Here are a couple ways to raise quick money.
1. Donate Plasma! I have yet to do this but I know people who make $30 dollars every time.
2. Surveys! Believe it or not you can get paid to take surveys, so easy!

Check out this way you can earn some quick money

#2 DETOX
You might have spent most of your money on food and alcohol. I mean, what else are you suppose to spend your money on? I bet I can guess that 95% of the food you bought and ate was NOT healthy. We all get off track a few times with our diets and it is okay. Here are my two favorite detox cleanse drinks that are super easy to make and really do wonders after a week of bad food and lots of alcohol.
1. Green Juice
2. Liver Flush (because we all know you destroyed your liver..)
Here is the link for the recipe for these two drinks!

#3 SLEEP
Sleep seems to be a common thing when writing my blogs. But hey, I am gonna talk about it again. Now that spring break is over you can get back to your normal sleep schedule. No more late nights with friends on a Tuesday. Check out the easiest and quickest ways to fall asleep.

I hope these help! Stay Spicy

Midterms

This week was filled with tears, stress, and midterms! You may think finals week is the worst week, but I beg to differ. Midterms are usual given the week before spring break which makes it the longest week of the whole semester!! No one has motivation the week before spring break, because we are all thinking of the sunny days on the beach with no homework. We definitely are not wanting to think about tests or studying for tests. I do not want you to worry because this blog is gonna talk about all the motivational tips to keep your eye on the A+  so then you can enjoy the sunny beach even more.

Iced Coffee with shots of Espresso, Cream & a Caramel drizzle down the inside.1. Pour a cup of coffee, throw your hair up and HANDLE IT.
Sometimes the best motivation for me is a big cup of coffee. Not only does it keep me awake, it is one of my favorite drinks and usually puts me in the best moods. For me, throwing my hair up in a bun and sipping some coffee is all I need to get through some studying.

2. Go to the Library
Some people get more done and stay more motivated if they doing homework or studying in the library. I use to spend hours and hours at the library every night my freshmen year. I remember going home after class and filling my backpack with different foods so I could study.
Maybe you stay more focus at home studying. Find your study spot and learn to love it! Here is a link to some more tips with studying at the library.

3. Stay Well Rested
I know for a fact you will find yourself at 2am going through the study guide one last time before the test. A lot of students find this the most effective way to study...staying up way too late. In reality, you are not even retaining any information that late! The best advice for you is to study but then go to bed at a reasonable hour so your brain can actually process the material. I use to stay awake until I could not keep my eyes open. I felt like I studied hard but in reality my brain was not remembering anything.

I hope this help you through your week of exams!
Until next time, Stay Spicy.

Junior year...What am I doing with my life??

Your junior year is filled with questions. "What am I studying?" "Why haven't I found a job yet?"
But the most important question you will ask yourself during your junior year will be, "What am I doing with my life?"

Image result for what am i doing with my life memeEvery college student has asked themselves this question, many many times. Some of us are still asking this question. I want you all to STOP asking yourself this question every single day! Yes it is important and you should think about what you are doing with your future, but don't keep yourself up at night about it. Today on the blog I am gonna talk about how you can stress less but still make a plan.

1. Don't let these thoughts consume you
Yes I think planning your future is extremely important...I mean we are in college for a reason, right? I'm not saying don't plan and think about your future. What I am saying is don't let it ruin the present. Don't let the thoughts of the future affect your day to day routine. DO put some time st aside to focus on your end goals after graduation.

2. Keep the relationships that matter
What I mean by this is, as an undergrad you surround yourself with good and bad people. After graduation people's lives shift. Some of the friends you made might still be in your life, others will only be interacting with you through Facebook. The important thing is to keep the positive people in your life after college.

3. Get some sleep!
I know how hard it is to get some sleep when your  mind is running around in circles. You might feel like you need to have your life figured out overnight. Unfortunately that is not the case whatsoever. So stop keeping yourself up at night. Check out this link on  how to get a good nights sleep. Trust me. You'll want to read this.

Self Love 2.0

I know what you're thinking. "Rachel, why are you blogging about self love when you're suppose to be blogging about college?!" Well my answer to you is that self love is sooooo underrated and needs to be expressed daily. I found myself needing more of my own love lately and am feeling inspired. Before you continue with the blog, check out this link to read more about having a healthy lifestyle while in college.

So today we are gonna take about beauty self care.

1. At Home Facials

After a long day, whether it was full of school or full of work, I like to give myself relaxing facials. It sounds like a lot of work but I have found some of the easiest and inexpensive at home facials. Here is my favorite at home remedy! Try it out! and leave a comment on what you thought.

2. Hair Masks
So we have our face masks done. What about our hair masks? Our hair needs some love too! I have never done a hair mask before but after this post and after researching I am definitely gonna try out some of these remedies. The banana honey yogurt hair is on my to do list this weekend.

3. Drink lots of water
You see and hear this everywhere. "Drink lots of water". Well, I am here to say it again. Water does wonders to your body. Not only does it hydrate you but it helps your skin and hair thrive!! Think of this as if you're watering a plant, you should be watering your plant everyday. Just like you should be drinking plenty of water everyday.

"What if I don't like the taste of just plain water?"

If you don't like the taste of plain water then maybe some of these water infused drinks will help.

I hope you found these three self car tips helpful Let me know in the comments which tip you tried out!

Until next time, Stay Spicy.

Self love

So we've talked about the first two years of college, freshmen and sophomore year. I want to take the next couple of blog post and use them for some self love and de-stress trends. College is very very stressful. We all know this. Adulting is not much easier, infact adulting is terrible! So many bills and so many responsibilities. This post is gonna be all about how to take a step back from reality for just one night.

1. Working out
My favorite thing to do when I am in need of some self love is working out. I find myself in the gym more when I am having a rough day, or when I just need to take a break from something for awhile. The gym is the most healthiest way to de-stress. The awesome part is that most Universities have a school gym so you should not have an excuse as to why you aren't going!
r

2. Go to Bed Early
Some College students can say they never went to bed before midnight during all four years on school. That is very true! Whether it's staying up cramming for an exam in the morning, or late night outs with friends. It almost always seems to be nearly impossible to go to bed by midnight, let alone be in bed before midnight. If this seems impossible to you then I suggest scheduling it. Yes, schedule your bed time. If you're anything like me you'll need to schedule your bedtime, otherwise you'll never sleep before midnight.

3. Take yourself out to dinner
Yes, you read that write and no this isn’t lame! Take yourself out to dinner and it’ll change your life. You might feel weird and awkward but it’s the best “me” time you can have. If you don’t want to go and sit at a table in a restaurant just yet, then maybe order some take out or a pizza and have a party with your bed and Netflix. Sometime you have to stay in on a Friday night and give your self attention.

These are my favorite top 3 self love activities. Like I said, I’m all about self love and de-stressing so stay tuned for next week post where I will continue with the best activities to de stress.

Stay Spicy.

Sophomore Year...Part 2

And we are back with the second part of sophomore year! It has been a crazy week for me, and it is only gonna get crazier for the next month. You'll soon figure out how busy you can actually get when you hit your senior year. I can promise you that one. Being in my senior year right now, I have realized that the days I thought I was "so busy" are nothing compared to now. But that talk is for later. Lets finish up sophomore year, shall we?

The last post I ended with "finding your friend group" and I still hold true to that. Like I posted last week, I found some of my best friends during my sophomore year.  This post I wanna talk about roommates. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

1. Not all roommates get along
Yes, this WILL happen to you. Let me paint this picture for you. Okay so you and your best friend come to college together and life is just great. You have your best friend by your side. You guys are freshmen in college living on your on. Blah Blah Blah.

-Fast Forward-

You guys move in together and you both are so excited. The first couple of weeks (or months) are probably the best thing ever! But then you walk down stairs and see the mess created in the kitchen. There's dishes everywhere. Trash pouring out of the trash can. You see panda express to go containers on the counter from last Wednesday. You stop and think to yourself. WTF.

What do you do? Scream at your best friend/roommate? Do you just clean up the mess you didn't make?

I've heard a lot of friends who lived with their best friends and they ended up hating each other.
So my advice to you is to be excited about roommates, but be very careful with you who live with. Sometimes your best friends do not make the best roommates.

2. The Good
Now, I do not want you think that all roommates are bad. I have had my share of bad roommates and I have had my share of good roommates. So what makes a roommate and "good" roommate??
- They clean up after themselves!
- They respect your space and privacy. There is nothing like a roommate who thinks your room is her room.
-They don't eat your food! This is so important..like come on!

If your roommate has at least these 3 qualities then you got yourself a good one.

Until next week, Stay Spicy

Sophomore Year...No turning back now

So it's your sophomore year now.... how was your freshmen  year?? Was it as bad as you thought it was going to be? Do you know regret taking those 8am classes that you thought you could do??

Well I wish I could tell you that it gets easier from here but.......it only gets harder. I'm sorry but someone has to tell you and it is gonna be me! Your freshmen year is all about figuring college out and adjusting to the new environment. Now that it is your second year, you should be pretty much adjusted by now...well hopefully. And there is NO TURNING BACK NOW!

My Sophomore Year

Here are somethings that I learned during my sophomore year.

I started to realize that high school friends might not stick around with you while you go through college. I had some friends go to different colleges, some friends go on missions, and some friends stay home. You will lose connections with maybe some of your best friends... It's sad but its all a part of growing I guess.

1. If you don't have a job. GET ONE!

I didn't have a job my freshmen year and it was fine i guess...but looking back on it I wish I did. I got  job the summer after freshmen year. Guess what?! I still work at the same place today. Going to school in very small city that was populated by mainly college students, it was difficult to find a job quickly. I suggest looking sooner than later. Apply everywhere, especially if you're going to school in a college town I like do. Get a job. Ramen gets gross after awhile.

2. Have an idea of what you are studying.
This varies with a lot of people. Some people know exactly what they want to study and they know exactly what they are gonna do with their lives. Those people must be immortal gods because NO ON KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING. You should have a little bit of an idea of what you want to study. And if you still don't know, maybe take classes that are just interesting to you. You never know....you might find your passion!

3. Hopefully you found your group
What I mean by this is....I hope you have found your friend group in college. Do, find a close friend group. Some of the friends I made my sophomore year of college are still some of my best friends today! Don't worry if you are reading this and you feel like you still haven't found "your people"....they will come around soon!

That is all for today! Come back next week on Part 2 of my sophomore year!

Freshmen Year..Oh Boy

So its your freshmen year. You might have woken up on your first day so nervous that you wanted to throw up and go back to bed (that is exactly how I felt on my first day). You might even feel like nothing is different and it is just another morning and just another class. Or maybe you haven't started yet but are about to.
Whatever the case may be, its your freshmen year!! WOOOO! You are done with all the high school drama. You don't have to run to the bus anymore. You don't have to eat the gross cafeteria food EVER AGAIN! You don't have to sit by the weird kid in algebra that coincidentally had every class with you since 9th grade. I really knew someone who was in every single one of my classes for all four years of high school....

College is nothing like high school. Let's say it together, COLLEGE IS NOTHING LIKE HIGH SCHOOL.

Now that your are done with high school there are some things you will need to know before you leave the nest. Here are my top 5 Do's and Don'ts for your freshmen year.

1. I highly recommend living in the dorms your freshmen year.

-Some might tell you not to but if you want the full typical freshmen year then do it! I met some of my greatest friends by living in dorms . I also didn't have a car my first year so living on campus was very beneficial.

2. Less is more when it comes to dorm necessities

-You might see all of these Pinterest posts that show you the list of "college dorm room must haves" yeah....you do not need that much stuff. I was that girl that used these nonsense lists of information and I regretted it.

3. Bring lots of quarters! I hope you know how to do your laundry..
-I had so many quarters in my dorm my freshmen year. You never think you will use them all in a year, but you will!

4. DO NOT TAKE AN 8 AM
-You may say to yourself (because I did) "I can do an 8am because that is when I woke up for high school classes" WRONG WRONG. If there is anything you can take away from this post is to not take an 8am just because you think it will be just like getting up for high school class.
Take an 8am class if you are a morning person and that time works for you.

5. Take advantage of free stuff.
-This is a tip that you should use throughout all four years of college. Especially your freshmen year. If the student center is offering free pizza, go grab some! Even if you're not hungry at that moment. Your future self will thank you when its midnight and you're starving.

Those were my top 5 Do's and Don'ts of your freshmen year.

Until next time, Stay Spicy.
